Chromium picolinate is a dietary supplement used to support the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats in cats, horses, and pigs. Chromium picolinate may increase insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism and can be used as an adjunctive (supportive) therapy for diabetes and obesity in cats and horses that suffer from metabolic syndrome.

Cisplatin is a chemotherapy drug used to treat various forms of cancer and solid tumors in animals. It is prescribed off-label for use in dogs, horses, birds, and reptiles. It should not be used in cats due to potentially fatal side effects. Cisplatin is administered by injection, typically IV into the vein, by trained veterinary staff.

Clarithromycin is given by mouth and used off label to treat certain bacterial infections in several animal species. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it or other macrolide antibiotics, in rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, or horses more than four months old.

Clopidogrel is used off label to prevent abnormal blood clots in dogs, cats, and horses. In cats, this medication may also improve circulation in the lower limbs when used after a blood clot event. It is given by mouth in the form of a tablet or compounded liquid.

Cyclopentolate ophthalmic is an eye drop used in veterinary medicine during eye examinations to dilate the pupil and allow for proper examination of the interior part of the eye. It is used in all species of animals. Cyclopentolate ophthalmic comes in a liquid drop format to be instilled directly to the eye (topically).

Cyclophosphamide is given by mouth or injection and is used off label in cats, dogs, horses and rabbits to treat various cancers, such as lymphoma, leukemia, carcinoma, and sarcoma.

Cyproheptadine is given by mouth and is used off label in cats, dogs, and horses to treat allergic skin conditions, certain toxicities, and to stimulate appetite. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Common side effects include sleepiness, increased appetite, and dry mouth.

Dalteparin is an anticoagulant and blood thinner medication used off label (extra label) to treat and prevent thromboembolism (blood clots) in dogs, cats, and horses. Dalteparin is a low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH), also known as fragmented heparin. It is given by injection under the skin (SQ).

Deslorelin (brand name Suprelorin-F®) is a synthetic hormonal agent used to manage adrenocortical disease in ferrets. Deslorelin has also been used as a temporary contraceptive in intact male dogs or ferrets, to suppress estrus in small mammals, to decrease reproductive behavior in pet birds, and to induce ovulation in horses. Caution when handling if pregnant or child-bearing age.
